We are rounding out the last Mindfulness Monday for the month of February. This week’s Mindfulness Monday Challenge has to do with gratitude.

** As you go about your day notice how often you express gratitude. Twenty years ago or so I heard Oprah talk about gratitude journals. At that time, Oprah wrote down three things a day she was grateful for.

When I started listing the things I was grateful for I often listed one of my three as thankful that the day was over. Seriously!

The more I practiced expressing my gratitude the more I began to notice the many opportunities I had available in my life to be grateful.

Be mindful of how many times a day you speak in appreciation for something rather than listing all of the things you don’t like about something.

Be mindful when you get ready to do something for someone are you resentful for it or are you happy to freely do it?

Do you find yourself coming from a place of lack or a place of abundance? This one continues to be a struggle for me.

*** And if you are really up for a challenge, try this….when you find yourself being grateful, can you be specific? Example: I don’t say/write I am thankful for Michael. Instead I try to be specific, like, I am thankful that every Monday evening Michael takes the trash and recycle to the curb. It may seem silly, but it makes me see specifically all that I have to be grateful for.
